With his fiery style and his dignity under the gun, Jackie Robinson made 1947 a year of triumph as baseball's first black player over 50 years ago. Robinson won Rookie of the Year and later added an MVP award to his trophy case during a career in which he hit .311. Robinson signed this check in 1966 in the amount of $25 and drawn on funds from the Freedom National Bank. It is made payable to Clevea Schuler and "Jack R. Robinson" in blue pen. The signature is impeccable, grading a near-perfect 10. The check is in a black presentation folder with a gold cover image of Robinson and the inscription "1947-1997, 50th Anniversary, Autographed Personal Check." It includes a letter of authenticity from Robinson's widow, Rachel.
