While Jackie Robinson had to endure unimaginable pressures after breaking baseball's color line in 1947, Brooklyn Dodger fans always made him feel at home, offering support and encouragement and showering him with many honors during his Hall of Fame career that included the Rookie of the Year award in 1947 and the MVP award in 1949. This 1951 photo shows an appreciative Robinson being presented with one such honor by a Brooklyn business leader who seems to be bursting at the seams with excitement to be able to meet Jackie and hand him a scroll reading "Namm's Honor Roll ‘B.P.' of the week" before a game at Ebbets Field. Robinson signed the photo "Best wishes, Jackie Robinson" in blue ink. The signature is a bit light but definitely readable, set against Jackie's white uniform shirt and partly against the white scroll.
