This lot is a virtual encyclopedia of the days when "negro" men who were prevented from playing big league ball found a home in leagues and parks of their own. The near mint OAL Budig ball signed by 33 Negro Leaguers includes two of the best, Hall of Famer Monte Irvin and Buck O'Neil, on the sweet spot, and one of the most beguiling, Mamie "Peanut" Johnson, a female pitcher with the Indianapolis Clowns. There is also a set of 32 flash cards of players illustrated by artist Ron Lewis, all but four of which are signed by the likes of Irvin and fellow HOFer Buck Leonard, O'Neil, Double Duty Radcliffe, Ray Noble, Sam Jethroe, Wilmer Harris, Artie Wilson, etc.
