After renouncing boxing for 11 years, George Foreman returned to the ring in 1991 and two years later recaptured the heavyweight title at age 40. On the eve of his second comeback fight against Jimmy Ellis in Reno in December 1991, Foreman wrote this heartfelt letter to Archie Moore, the ex-champ who had been advising him. While praising Moore for his aid, a diplomatic Foreman writes, "This time I wish to do it myself," insisting that "This is nothing personal against you....This is only a trial thing. Even as I write this letter, I may call upon you for help." He typed in bold-faced capital letters, "THIS IS NOT A LETTER OF TERMINATION!" Foreman's signature in blue ink rates a 9. The stationery has a picture of a muscular George on top and is in excellent condition with very slight staining above the text. Included is the envelope which is stamped "personal and confidential" and has the image of a flag-toting Foreman from his 1972 Olympic victory. Reserve $250
