The Sport of Kings never looked so regal as in these ten race track photos dating back to when cigar-chomping aficionados wore suits and fedora hats even as they are being crushed like sardines into Belmont and Aqueduct Parks. Two Scharfman wire service photos show SRO houses at each park from high above in a helicopter. Another shows a thundering pack coming straight at the camera, another a classic photo finish, and one of a victorious trotter-rider mugging into the camera as he crosses the finish line. The most riveting is a large-sized shot of famed jockey Eddie Arcaro lying facedown in the mud after being spilled from his mount in the early 1950s. The photos are in good to excellent condition.
