These seven one-of-a-kind photos show Scharfman posing with some big-name baseball figures from the 1940s (who not only were his subjects but his friends as well) and signed these pictures with heartfelt inscriptions, including HOFers Stan Musial, Enos Slaughter, Duke Snider and Pee Wee Reese, Phil Rizzuto, Chuck Dressen, Charlie Grimm and two other Cubs players, and Mickey Mantle shortly before his death. Mantle's inscription says it all, "To Herb, Best wishes to a great guy. Your friend, Mickey Mantle." Of the lot, Mantle's signature in black Sharpie is the best, rating a 9, with the others grading 6s to 8s.
