This lot of 21 ring action shots is not for the squeamish as they capture the brutal essence of boxing at the moment of impact when leather hits jaw. One feels the same impact seeing these Scharfman-snapped takeouts such as Rocky Marciano pounding Joe Louis and Muhammad Ali dishing out pain and receiving it from Joe Frazier in their first fight. Also, the distorted and bloodied mugs of Jersey Joe Walcott (one mounted), Floyd Patterson and others as they reel in agony. There is a separate mounted 7" x 10" photo of Patterson being destroyed by Ingemar Johanssen and a certificate of merit awarded in 1952 to Scharfman for his shot of Louis being savaged by Marciano. The photos are in good to excellent condition.
