By the age of two, his father had Wayne on skates and by the age of five, he was a local attraction. The making of a superstar was born. A record that is still held today has Gretzky scoring 310 goals with his novice team. Wayne Gretzky turned pro at the age of 17 with the Indianapolis Racers of the World Hockey Association. After eight games he was traded to the Edmonton Oilers and "The Great One" had arrived. Following the 1987-88 season, Gretzky was traded to the Los Angeles Kings. He had an immediate impact with hockey in the United States and led his Kings to the Stanley Cup Finals during the Stanley Cup Centennial year in 1993. As great as he was on the ice, he was even more outstanding as an ambassador, a hockey humanitarian, a lover of the game and of life. Gretzky's induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame on November 22, 1999 confirms his place in society not only as one of the greatest players to represent the NHL but also one of the finest men hockey has ever known. In the neck of the jersey is the "Sandow" label. On the back tail is the name "Sandow." The size, "46" is written on this label in black magic marker. On the front of the jersey is the white, orange and blue Oilers emblem. On the back of the jersey is a white nameplate with the name "Gretzky." The player number "99" appears on the back of the jersey as well as on each sleeve. The letters and numbers are made of blue on orange tackle twill. On the right sleeve is the "Alberta 75" anniversary patch. The jersey shows game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
