Bobby Jones was burning up golf courses from America to Great Britain to St. Andrews, Scotland in the roaring Twenties, bringing untold popularity to the sport. A beguiling example of how Jones and golf was tied to just about anything at the time is this futuristic-looking (for then) metal thermometer manufactured by the Thermo-Dial company in 1922, the same year Jones played in the inaugural Walker Cup tournament. The piece stands 7-1/2" high, is colored dark chocolate brown and has a detailed design. The thermometer is in a circular middle piece which serves as a base for a 3" high statuette resembling Jones in knickers and cap drawing back his club for a big drive. The piece is in excellent condition with barely a scratch on a very smooth surface.
