Edwin Moses' time of 47.02 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles in 1980 was a world for 12 years. At a time when Russian and East German athletes were state-funded and juiced up, the long and lean Ohioan was truly the "Moses" of the U.S. track program, using his God-given talent. An engineering student who had attended Morehouse College on an academic rather than sports scholarship, Moses won the gold medal at the 1976 Olympics, then began an unbeaten streak that stretched for an astonishing 122 straight races from 1977 to 1987. He also won the Olympic gold in 1984 and the Sullivan Award in 1983 as the top amateur athlete in the country. This pair of red and white suede Adidas "Titans" were used by Moses during his illustrious career. The spiked shoes have blue soles and German writing on the interior, indicating they may have been purchased in that country. Also included is a 5-ring Olympic logo pin once owned by Moses. The autograph on the right front of the right shoe rates a solid eight.
