"They call Joe DiMaggio the "Yankee Clipper," and he certainly lived up to his nickname last year" begins the "GUM, INC" description of Joseph Paul DiMaggio Jr. on the back of card 1, copy written in 1940 and reproduced here in porcelain by the R&N China Co. This "Signature Series set number 242 of 500 is beautifully presented and protected in its own custom made, hardwood, black velvet lined box. "GUM INC, PLAY BALL AMERICA" card number 26 of 250 and number 71 (DiMaggio Autographed) from the "PLAY BALL SPORTS HALL OF FAME" series are also represented and cased in Lexan protectors. The fourth "card" in the set is a porcelain Certificate of Authenticity signed by DiMaggio and shows a photo of him autographing card number 71.
