In 1941, the Brooklyn Dodgers roared into their first World Series in 21 years, to face their cross-town rival, the New York Yankees. In Game Four at Ebbets Field, the Dodgers were on the verge of squaring the Series, leading 4-3 when Hugh Casey came in to pitch with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. Facing Tommy Heinrich, Casey's wicked curveball eluded catcher Mickey Owen and opened the door for the Yankees to win 7-4, a defeat that lingered as the Yanks wrapped it up in the next game. This Dodger press pin from the Series is a small curio that recalls the mixed emotions of that Fall Classic. The red, white and blue pin is 1" in diameter and reads, "1941 Brooklyn Dodgers World Series, Press." Bordered in gold, the pin is in excellent condition and is secured in a cushion within a 1-1/4" x 2-1/4" brown box.
