This championship ring brought vindication for the Baltimore Orioles, whose five game World Series triumph over the Cincinnati Reds expunged the 1969 loss to the New York Mets from their minds, if not from the history books. The ring was awarded to Marcelino Lopez, a Cuban left-hander, who appeared in 25 games that season mostly as a long reliever and went 1-1 with a sparkling 2.08 ERA. The Orioles took the opening Series game 1-0 behind Jim Palmer as Brooks "The Human Vacuum Cleaner" Robinson made acrobatic plays at 3B that tore the Reds' hearts out. The appropriately majestic, size 14 gold ring features a sculpted image of Baltimore's Memorial Stadium at the core with the diamond stone rising from the open end and bordered by the words "Baltimore Orioles, World Champions." The left shank has an engraving of an Oriole cap and bird logo below "1970" and aside "M. Lopez" and a mitt above the number "32." The right shank has the AL logo. The ring is in excellent condition with a few scratches.
