This glittering World Series Trophy awarded to Darryl Strawberry as a member of the 1986 world champion New York Mets, is a symbol of what might have been for a man whose power was so awesome it led many to call him the second coming of Reggie Jackson but whose personal travails shattered his promise. The trophy rekindles memories of Strawberry pounding out homers in his prime, such as his monster shot in 1986 against the Cardinals that crashed against the centerfield scoreboard and knocked out one of the lights. The trophy for the seven game triumph is a miniature of the large-sized hardware presented to the team. It has a 7" in diameter black base with a surrounding band of gold reading "World Series Champions, New York Mets, 1986, Darryl Strawberry." Ringing the base is an angled array of stanchions with flags bearing the names of all the big league teams, the highest one rising 9-1/2" from the base. In the center is a gold crown sitting on an arc above a silver ball and gold team pins affixed to the base with the logos of the Mets and Red Sox. The trophy is in excellent to near mint condition.
