Ten time American League All-Star and six time Gold Glove winner, Hall of Famer Kirby Puckett did not possess the prototypical athletic build of other superstars, but this did not prevent him from becoming one of the games most popular players. During his 12 year major league career Puckett compiled a .318 batting average and 2304 hits. Well on his way to 3000 hits, Kirby’s career ended abruptly when he was diagnosed with glaucoma. This Louisville Slugger, model C243, measuring 34.75 inches and weighing 32 ounces, shows evidence of tremendous game-use with a handle crack. The barrel is covered with ball marks and there is a heavy coat of pine tar on the handle. Puckett’s retired #34 and "Work Hard" are on the knob in marker.
