Gary Carter succeeded Johnny Bench as the National League’s best catcher in the late 1970s. During his 19 year career "The Kid" hit 20 or more homers nine times and collected 100 or more RBIS four times. A three-time Gold Glove winner, Carter holds the National League career record for games caught, 2,056. This Louisville Slugger, model P89, measuring 35.5 inches and weighing 35 ounces, shows evidence of great game-use with a handle crack. The barrel is covered with ball marks and there is a heavy coat of pine tar on the handle.
