Don Thompson joined the Boston Braves in 1949 just two years after Jackie Robinson had broken baseballs' color barrier. Two seasons later he would join Robinson and play side by side with him in Brooklyn for three seasons. The 1953 World Series had to be the shining moment of his very short career. This Hillerich and Bradsby, model O16, was produced for use in the 1953 World Series but shows no evidence of use. It measures 34.25 inches in legnth and weighs 33.5 ounces. A highly desirable piece of Brooklyn Dodger history.
