Owning a piece of Yankee Stadium is one thing. Owning a piece that has been toed, pawed, stomped on and pushed off to propel some big-time pitches by the likes of Andy Pettitte, David Cone, Dwight Gooden and Mariano Rivera...well, that's something else. While this pitching rubber that was sunk into the Stadium mound during the Yankees' 1996 championship season, the first of four titles in five years, may be one of the most esoteric of collectibles, hard-core Bomber fans will find it one of the most irresistible, and may want to paw at it themselves hoping that some of its magic will rub off. The rubber itself is the top layer of a 6" x 24" cylindrical concrete block with a hole running through it. The rubber comes with a letter of authenticity from the purchaser who obtained it at a Yankee Fan Fest in 1996.
