One of the most endearing artifacts of the Bambino's life and times is this "Official Babe Ruth Wristwatch" that was marketed to his biggest fans, the kids who grew up watching him play. The silver-like watch was manufactured by the Exacta Time Corporation and The Babe Ruth Watch Company" and billed as "The Sports Watch of Champions." It came with a "Sportsman's Pledge" card bearing Ruth's smiling face and his facsimile signature. The young wearer was to sign the back of the card, pledging to "observe the ideals of American sportsmanship as they are expressed by Babe Ruth," and send in the accompanying registration card. The watch still keeps time and features an illuminated dial with an illustration of Ruth inside a baseball diamond, a pair of bats slung over his shoulder, with another facsimile signature underneath. The watch, which is held securely in place by two strips of cardboard, shows some wear on the facing and a few of the numbers are faded, but the band is in excellent condition. It came encased in a regulation-sized plastic baseball. The ball is in excellent condition. The watch comes with the original Exacta box with Ruth's image on two sides and with the original paper wrapping. There is slight damage on the box, with part of the top torn off. The pledge card and registration card are preserved in plastic and are in excellent condition. As a whole, this marvelous marker of history is, in a word, timeless.
