Every game day from May 31, 1925 to May 2, 1938, Lou Gehrig unfailingly took his position at first base for the New York Yankees. Although Gehrig's longtime record streak of 2,130 consecutive games may have been broken by Cal Ripken Jr., Gehrig played in an era of exhausting all-night train rides and daytime games and is remembered as much for his indomitable spirit as for his lifetime .340 batting average and 493 home runs. This PM-10 1-3/4" memorial Gehrig pin expresses the sentiment of the nation with the words "Never Forgotten" across the top and the Iron Horse's name on the bottom in a black area surrounding a head shot. The pin is in very good condition, with some rusting on the back.
