One rare Yankee memento is this ashtray marking the 1956 championship season. While taboo today, smoking was an act of manhood then, and the Yankees were very manly, headed by Triple Crown winner Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, Whitey Ford, Billy Martin, Bill Skowron, Elston Howard, World Series perfect-game pitcher Don Larsen, and manager Casey Stengel. These are among the 36 names that grace the 4 ½" in diameter ashtray, which has a raised pewter border and a white base surface with a red Yankee high-hat logo in the center. There is some natural discoloration on the outer ring but the white surface is nearly flawless.
