The purchaser of this historic ticket paid $3.50 for what would be a priceless memory on October 1, 1961. That was the day that Roger Maris, the quietest of Yankee heroes, made his loudest noise. It came in the third inning. Facing Boston Red Sox pitcher Tracy Stallard in the last game of the season, Maris uncorked his quick, uppercut swing at a knee-high fastball and drove it high into the rightfield grandstand to keep his date with destiny. This light brown stub measures 1-1/2" x 3" and is in good condition with some slight discoloration on the upper left corner.
