The two items offered in this lot represent two very different occasions in the life and death of Mickey Mantle. The first item is a personal invitation for Mickey Mantle to attend the 1949 Commerce High School Commencement. On one side of the page, there is a small card inserted with each graduate's name, and Mantle's card is included here. Also included is a letter of authenticity from the Mickey Mantle Museum stating that the museum president obtained the invitation directly from Mickey's sister, Barbara Mantle. The second item is a program from Mantle's August 15, 1995 funeral. Yankees abound in the program, with Bobby Richardson delivering the sermon and the pallbearers including Yogi Berra, Whitey Ford, Bill Skowron, Hank Bauer, John Blanchard, and Bobby Murcer. The program also notes that Bob Costas delivered the eulogy. Both items show only slight wear--the invitation is in excellent plus condition while the program is near mint.
