In the 1920s, the great "Bambino" was the toast of New York, he was bigger than life. What makes this bat so historic and important is that it is inscribed to the Governor of New York, Al Smith, who was later to run for the President of the United States. The inscription boldly reads "To my pal Al Smith, Sincerely, Babe Ruth, busted in '24 in Boston." This is the ultimate game-used Babe Ruth bat. Not only is it autographed, it is inscribed to one of New York's most respected citizens, who was a close friend of Ruth's. The bat originates from the Smith family and comes with a photograph of the governor with the "Bambino". The bat weighs almost 41 ounces, is 35" long, is cracked, repaired with nails and beautifully finished. The marking period 1921-27, is in the era in which the Bambino changed the game of baseball, featuring the home run as the most exciting and anticipated achievement of the national pastime. In the opinion of the most respected bat experts in the hobby today, all the markings for the bat are correct for this era; it is a genuine game-used and autographed Babe Ruth bat. Here is a chance for the serious collector to hold a piece of history in his hands that was once in the hands of "The Bambino" himself.
