No home run has ever tasted sweeter to Barry Bonds than the one he airmailed into eternity on Tuesday night, April 17, 2001 to elevate him into the 500 Home Run Club. On that night, Bonds came to bat in the bottom of the 8th inning at Pac Bell Park, his San Francisco Giants trailing the Los Angeles Dodgers 2-1. Bonds had homered in each of his last four games but he was 0-for-3 as he stepped in with teammate Rich Aurilia on third and two out against Dodger pitcher Terry Adams. The count went to 2 and 0 before Adams came in with a slider that Bonds met on the sweet spot with his eyeblink-quick cut, sending it screaming over the bleachers and into the waters of McCovey Cove. When it made that splash, Barry Bonds at age 36 became the 17th player to reach 500, and he did it the best way possible, making it the gamer in the Giants' 3-2 win. As the crowd chanted "Barry, Barry," the future Hall of Famer jumped with both feet on home plate and was embraced his waiting father, ex-Giant Bobby Bonds. Every piece of this fantastic lot of items from that momentous April night, which includes Bonds' signature on the cap and uniform pants he wore on that trip around the bases as well as on both of the wrist bands he wore when he launched the ball. The signature on the black and orange New Era size-7 1/4 cap is in gold marker rating an 8. The signature on the right front of the Russell Athletics Size-36 white pants with orange and black trim is in black marker rating a 9. Both are signed with his name and "500 HR 4/17/01". The pants have a personalized label in the waistband with the image of Bonds holding a bat and reading "25 Barry Bonds Authenticated", as well as a tag reading "36-38-35-01-T." The wristbands are black and read "Fila 25" in orange. All items carry a sticker version of the Bonds Authenticated logo and come with certificates of authenticity.
