Mueller's first major league hit was a home run off Carl Hubbell for the Braves in 1935. A second-string catcher until his return to the minors in 1949, he resurfaced with Cincinnati in 1943 and responded to the WWll baseball manpower shortage by catching 233 consecutive games. In the neck of the jersey is a white felt patch with the name "Ray Mueller" in black chain stitch. Across the front of the jersey is the name "Giants" and on the back is the player number "4." The name and number are made of orange on black felt. There is orange/black/orange trim around the neck and on the end of the sleeves. The bottom of the jersey has been custom shortened and hemmed. There has also been a number change. The jersey shows game-use and with the exception of the changes above, appears to have no other alterations of any kind.
