Galan was the first everyday major leaguer to play an entire season without hitting into a double play, as well as the first to homer from both sides of the plate in the same game (6/25/37.) In the neck of the jersey is the "MacGregor" label and size "42." Below this is a white felt patch reading "Galan 29" in red chain stitch. On the inside right tail is the flag tag reading "Set 1 1949." Across the front of the jersey is the name "Giants" and on the back is the player number "29." Both the name and number are made of black on orange felt. On the left sleeve is a bush league or minor league patch. The jersey was most likely sent down to the minor leagues or a local team where this patch was added to the jersey. The jersey shows game-use and with the exception of the added patch, appears to have no other alterations of any kind.
