McCovey had his banner year in 1969 when he won the MVP award. His appearance in the 1969 All-Star Game was his third of six, and he paced the National League to a 9-3 victory with two home runs. In 1977, McCovey hit a grand slam and a solo home run, becoming the only player in history to hit two home runs in one inning twice; the first time occurred in 1973. On the left front tail is the "Goodman" label. Below this is a gray felt patch reading "McCovey 44/21/2 1969" which has been done in black chain stitch. The numbers denote the size, extra body length and year. Across the front of the jersey is the name "San Francisco" and on the back is the player number "44." The name and number are black on orange tackle twill. On the left sleeve is baseball's "100th Anniversary" patch. The jersey shows game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
