A feared slugger of the 1950s and 1960s, Joe Adcock formed the heart of the Milwaukee Braves' order with Hank Aaron and Eddie Mathews. The big first baseman was the first of only two men to reach the CF bleachers in the Polo Grounds and he went yard four times in one game on July 31, 1954 against the Dodgers at Ebbets Field. Adcock played 17 seasons, cracking 336 lifetime round-trippers along with a .277 average and 1,122 RBIs. This classic Braves jacket was made for him during the team's glory year of 1957, though injuries limited him to 65 games and 12 homers. The beautiful zip-front jacket has a black nylon shell and leather-lined pockets, with "Braves" stitched across the front in red and white above a black, gold and red "tomahawk" logo. There is red trim on the shoulders and multi-colored trim at the neck and waist. The thickly lined interior, has a tag sewn-in reading "Adcock-9" in handwritten black letters just below the "Wilson" label. There are no alterations of any kind. Accompanying the jacket is a letter from the former owner, explaining that the jacket was made for Adcock for the '57 season.
