Red Schoendienst was one of baseball's most durable, toughest customers. Schoendienst broke in with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1945 and became a NL mainstay at second base for 19 seasons. While his biggest personal moment was his 14th inning homer that broke up the 1950 All-Star Game, his leadership was at its best when he was traded to the Milwaukee Braves in 1957 and had a league-high 200 hits, sparking the team to the pennant and to a thrilling World Series triumph over the mighty Yankees. This glove worn by Schoendienst during that Fall Classic was signed by him in silver marker along the pinky, "Red Schoendienst, 1957 - WS Glove." The signature rates an 8. The clearly well-used dark brown Rawlings RR Model glove also has the number "4" written in red paint in four spots on the strap and interior palm. The pocket reads "anchor web" and the wrist strap "snugger adjustment." The glove, a symbol of a glorious season in the sun, comes with another letter of authenticity explaining its ownership history since 1957.
