The ever-popular Pepitone remained a fixture with the Yankees throughout the 1960s. He had a powerful swing and an excellent glove. He won three gold gloves and was an All-Star in 1963-65. In the neck of the jersey is the "Wilson" label and the size "44." Below this is a gray patch reading "8 72 Set 1 44" which has been done in blue chain stitch. The numbers denote the player number, year, set number and size. On the left front tail is a gray patch with the year "72" in blue chain stitch. Across the front of the jersey is the name "Chicago." The player number "8" appears on both the front and back of the jersey. The letters and numbers are made of blue on white tackle twill. On the left sleeve is the Cubs patch. Included with the uniform are pants from the 1973 season. Inside the waistband is a gray patch reading "8 73 1 34 24" in light blue chain stitch. The numbers denote the player number, year, set number, waist size and inseam. Next to this is the "Wilson" label and the size "34." On the pocket, in black magic marker, is "Road Pants #23." These pants were probably given to another player after Pepitone used them. The uniform shows game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
