After being traded in mid-season to the Chicago Cubs, Rick Sutcliffe went 16-1 to win the 1984 Cy Young Award by a unanimous vote. This blue mesh pre-game jersey was worn by Sutcliffe during the 1987 season. On the front of the jersey is the Cubs logo patch and on the back is the player number "40" in white tackle twill. The white pinstriped home pants were worn by Sutcliffe during the 1988 season. In the waistband is the "Rawlings" manufacturer's tag with the size "39" and to its right is a white tackle twill patch reading "40 88 2 39 27" in blue. The numbers denote the player number, year, set number, waist size, and inseam, respectively. To the right of the patch is the flag tag reading "Set 1 1988." The jersey and pants show wear and appear to have no alterations of any kind.
