The Chicago Cubs' home run machine, Sammy Sosa, banged out 66 moon balls in 1998 as he and Mark McGwire vied to beat Roger Maris' single-season record of 61, and followed it up with 63 in ‘99. This Cubs road knit jersey was worn by Sosa during the ‘99 season. In the neck is a white label reading "21-48-99-1" denoting the player number, size, year and set number. On the left front tail is the "Russell Athletic" label with the size "48." Across the front is the name "Chicago" and on the back is the name "Sosa." The letters are made of blue on white tackle twill. The player number "21" appears on both the left breast and on the back of the jersey. The numbers are made of red on white tackle twill. The jersey shows game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
