"Pee Wee" Reese got his nickname as a young marble shooter; a "pee wee" being a type of marble. He was one of the most popular players on an idolized team. After his arrival in Brooklyn, he was named captain of the Dodgers, and many called him "The Captain." A smooth fielder, he became the premier shortstop of his era and an All-Star each year from 1947 to 1954. In the neck of the jersey is the "Rawlings" label and below this is the size tag, "42." Adjacent is the wash tag. On the left front tail is an autograph and below this is "Reese Harold 51" in blue chain stitch. The number denotes the year. Across the front of the jersey is the name "Dodgers" in script-style letters of blue felt. The number on the back has been removed. The National League patch has been removed from the left sleeve. Included with the uniform are pants and stirrups. In the waistband is an autograph. Next to this is the size tag, "34" and adjacent is the "Wilson" label. Next to this is the wash tag and below is a white felt patch with the year "1951" in black chain stitch. Both autographs rate solid 8's. The uniform shows game-use and with the exception of the above-mentioned changes, appears to have no other alterations of any kind.
