As a member of the Brooklyn Dodgers and later the Los Angeles Dodgers, Erskine, while playing with the likes of Jackie Robinson, Gil Hodges and Roy Campanella, compiled a lifetime record of 122-78. In 1952, he registered a no-hit shutout against the Chicago Cubs only to repeat that performance years later against the New York Giants. On the left front tail of the jersey is the "Spalding" label and adjacent is the size tag, "42." Below this is the name "Erskine" in blue chain stitch. On the inside left tail is the wash tag and adjacent is the flag tag reading "Set 1 1956." Across the front of the jersey is the name "Dodgers" in script style letters made of blue felt. The player number "17" appears on both the left breast and on the back of the jersey. The number on the front is made of red felt and the number on the back is made of blue felt. The jersey shows game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
