Born and raised in Brooklyn, Sandy Koufax fulfilled a boyhood dream by joining his hometown Dodgers as a 19 year old bonus baby in 1955. It was not until the Dodgers traveled westward to Los Angeles that Koufax fulfilled his potential as one of the greatest pitchers in baseball history. For five consecutive years, 1962-1966, Sandy led the NL in ERA, pitched 5 no-hitters, 33 shutouts, struck out 300 or more batters 3 times, and compiled a 111 W 34 L record over that span. In 1965, the year he wore this jersey, Koufax unanimously won the Cy Young award, set the MLB record for strikeouts at 382, and led the league in wins, ERA and complete games. In the Fall Classic, Koufax, working on only twp days rest, shutout the Twins in both games 3 and 4, clinching the world championship for the Dodgers and the MVP award in the process. On the left front tail of the jersey is the "McAuliffe" label and below is the size tag "44." Next to this is the year tag "65," with a white felt patch below and the name "Koufax" in blue chain stitch. Across the front of the jersey is the name "Dodgers" in script style letters. The player number "32" appears on both the left breast and on the back of the shirt. The numbers on front are made of red felt and the numbers on the back are in blue felt. The jersey shows game use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
