Considered by many to be the greatest player of all time, Mays was the prototype of the complete player; he hit for average and power, ran the bases with intelligence and speed, played a spectacular centerfield and possessed a great arm. Inside the waistband of the pants is the "Rawlings" label and size, "32." There is a white label reading "33 23 79 24" in blue Swiss embroidered stitch. The numbers denote the waist size, inseam, year and player number, respectively. Adjacent is the flag tag reading "Set 1 1979." The pants show wear and appear to have no alterations of any kind.
