Baseball's active hit leader, Tony Gwynn is currently 17th on the all-time list, and he is within 176 hits of the all-time Top 10. A lock for the Hall of Fame Gwynn remains one of the greatest players of our generation. On the left front tail is "Russell Athletic" and size, "50." Written on this label is "Col. 7-4-98 #2874." The game was played against Colorado on July 4, 1998 and he wore the jersey during his 2,874th hit. Across the front of the jersey is the name "Padres" in blue on white/orange tackle twill and on the back is the name "Gwynn" in blue tackle twill. Below this is the player number "19" in blue on white/orange tackle twill. On the left sleeve is the "San Diego Padres Baseball Club" patch and on the back number "1" is an autograph. It comes with an additional letter of authenticity from the family. The jersey shows game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
