The Phillies' second pick in the 1993 draft, Scott Rolen worked his way up and in 1996 came to the big club's spring training camp with big dreams that might have been deflated a bit when the Phillies, as with any unproven player, issued him a ridiculously high number to wear, 68, and took off another player's name from this road knit jersey to put on his. Once Rolen proved himself, he was given No. 17. Rolen signed the jersey on the upper right front in black marker, the signature rating a 7. On the left front tail is the "Russell Athletics" label and size "44." Below this is the "Intera" label. Across the front is "Phillies" in script-style letters made of red embroidered stitch on white tackle twill. On the back is "Rolen" in red on white tackle twill. The "68" appears on both the back and the left sleeve, made of red on white tackle twill. On the right sleeve is the "1996 All-Star Game" patch (the game was played in Philly.) The jersey shows game-use and except the for changes above, appears to have no alterations of any kind and comes with an additional letter of authenticity.
