George Mitterwald began his career with the Twins as their backup catcher and worked his way up to a starting role in 1970, the year he wore this jersey. On the left front tail of the grey flannel jersey is the "Spalding" manufacturer's tag and next to it is the size tag "42." Above this is "Mitterwald 15 42 70 Set 2" in blue chain-stitch, denoting player name, player number, size, year, and set number. "Twins" and player number "15" are sewn across the front and back of the jersey and the letters and numbers are made of navy on red tackle twill. The numbers on the back of the jersey have been restored. In the neck is a grey felt patch with the name "Mitterwald" in blue chain-stitch. On the left sleeve is a "Minnesota Twins" patch. The jersey shows game-use and with the exception of the number change, appears to have no alterations of any kind.
