Stephens was the best homer-hitting shortstop until the appearance of Ernie Banks. His glove was reliable, but it was his bat that made him a seven-time All-Star. On the left front tail is the "McAuliffe" label. Below this is "46-2" in red chain stitch. The numbers denote the size and two extra inches, respectively. Across the front of the jersey is the name "Red Sox" and on the back is the player number "5." Both the name and number are made of red on blue felt. The bottom of the jersey and the sleeves have been custom-cut. The American League 50th anniversary patch has been removed from the left sleeve. The jersey shows game-use and with the exception of the above-mentioned changes, appears to have no other alterations of any kind.
