As a successor to Ted Williams and Carl Yastrzemski in left field for the Boston Red Sox, Jim Rice emerged as the AL's most feared slugger in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He used his quick, compact stroke and immensely strong wrists to send home runs crashing into upper decks or soaring over the screen above Fenway Park's Green Monster. In the neck of the jersey is the "McAuliffe" label and below this is the size tag, "44." On the front tail is the year tag, "1978" and next to this is the wash tag. Across the front of the jersey is the name "Red Sox" and on the back is the player number "14." Both the name and number are made of red on blue tackle twill. The autograph on the front of the shirt rates an 8. The jersey shows game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
