Hoyt Wilhelm fluttered his way to the Hall of Fame, throwing knuckleballs for 20 seasons as the game's to relief pitcher as well as a 4-year span as a starter during which he no-hit the Yankees in 1958. Starting his career at age 28 after years in the minors, he stuck around until he was pushing 50, compiling all-time records including wins (123) and innings (1,870) in relief. In 1967, at age 44, he rang up an 8-3 record, 12 saves and a career-best 1.31 ERA with the White Sox. This home flannel jersey was autographed by Wilhelm on the front with the inscription "Good luck and best wishes, Hoyt Wilhelm" in blue marker, rating a 6. In the neck of the jersey is a white felt patch with "Wilhelm" in blue chain stitch. On the left tail is the "Wilson" label and size "44" and below this is a white felt patch with "67 Set 1" in blue chain stitch. On the left breast is the White Sox logo and on back is "Wilhelm." The number "31" is on the right breast and on the back. The logo, numbers and letters are made of blue tackle twill on a white tackle twill backing. The letters and numbers have been restored. On the left sleeve is the Illinois "Sesquicentennial" patch. the jersey shows good game-use and with the exception of the restored letters and numbers appears to have no alterations of any kind.
