One of the finest pure hitters of his time, Baines was a Chicago first draft pick in 1977. Entering the 2000 season, Baines' 373 career homers were second only to Al Kaline's 399 among players without a thirty-homer season. This jersey was worn during the 1983 season as well. On the left front tail is the "Sand-Knit" exclusive label and next to this is the "Sand-Knit" label and size, "42." On the inside back tail is a white label reading "82 Baines 42" in computer print. The numbers denote the year and size. Adjacent is a label with the number "2" denoting the set number. Across the front of the jersey is the name "Sox" in white tackle twill. On the back of the jersey is the name "Baines" and below this is the player number "3." Both the name and number are made of blue tackle twill. The nameplate was removed from the back and the name "Baines" put on. On the left sleeve is the "All Star Game 50th Anniversary" patch for the 1983 season. The jersey shows game-use and with the exception of the changes above, appears to have no other alterations of any kind.
