While Cy Young is known to any baseball fan by the award bearing his name given to the best pitcher in each league every season, the enormity of his achievements are hard to fathom in today's era of pampered starters and endless bullpen calls. In his era, Denton True "Cy" Young won a record 511 games. He hurled three no-hitters and won over 30 games in a season four times. Young, who died in 1955 at age 88, signed the "Official 97 League" ball around that time in a shaky scrawl on a side panel in blue ink, and while it has faded some it is completely legible, rating a 7. The ball itself is only mildly toned.
