This rare and fascinating Official American League ball has 25 signatures of the world champion 1943 New York Yankees, and one other signature - that of Walter "Big Train" Johnson. Johnson was perhaps the greatest pitcher of all time, who was in attendance when the Yankees beat the St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series. He signed the ball on the sweet spot in black ink between manager Hall of Fame Joe McCarthy (clubhouse) and pitcher Spud Chandler, the AL MVP that year who pitched the Series clincher. Johnson's signature rates a 5. Other signatures include Hall of Famer Bill Dickey, Joe Gordon, Charlie Keller, George Stirnweiss, Frank Crosetti, John Lindell, etc. Signatures rate 6s to 8s.
