This ball codifies the time when two of the game's greatest hitters were united in the same lineup. In 1929, the Chicago Cubs paid the enormous sum of $200,000 as well as giving up five players to the Boston Braves to obtain Rogers Hornsby, who then teamed with Hack Wilson in a Hall of Fame one-two punch. They played together from 1929 to 1931, when the hard-edged Hornsby was player/manager and hit .331. Wilson's is in blue ink on the sweet spot and is clubhouse, grading a 7. Hornsby's is just under it, larger and in black ink, rating a 6. In all, 22 Cubs signed it including Hall of Famer Kiki Cuyler, Charlie Root, Guy Bush, Billy Jurgis, Riggs Stephenson, Bobby Smith, etc. Signatures range from 5s to 7s.
