Marilyn Monroe's sex symbol image opened a market for items that presented the actress' unclothed body as an object of art rather than sex (or at least that was the alibi). Although tame by today's standards, these items were quite shocking in the staid 1950s. A particularly good example is the blonde siren's bare form in two languid poses on fiery red satin sheets on these uncut tin serving trays, the kind from which Americans ate their TV dinners. Each tray measures 14" x 19" and has a facsimile Monroe signature, a brown marbled border and the same color on the back. The piece is in excellent condition with a few minor scratches.
