Though small in stature at 5-foot-9 and 180 pounds, Navy running back Joe Bellino was the biggest name of all in college football in 1960 when he rumbled for 834 yards, caught 15 passes, notched 18 TDs and also punted and returned kicks, a performance for which he won both the Heisman Trophy and the Maxwell Memorial Trophy. The trophy features a 6" gold statue of the Academy's famous anchor-and-wave symbol on a 3-1/4" high black base with a rotating gold plaque containing a raised Navy coat of arms seal. Bellino signed the black base in silver marker with his name and "Heisman 1960, Navy #27." The signature rates an 8 and the trophy is in excellent condition.
