Memorabilia-hunters are always on the lookout for Heartland statues, which commemorated pop culture in the 1950s and 1960s with detailed, hand-painted figurines of TV cowboys, astronauts, presidents and players from all sports. The pieces in this rare set of 12 Heartland statues of NFL players from the early 1960s are extremely difficult to find in top condition. The players are meticulously depicted, clad in their home uniforms and standing 6-1/2" high, each mounted on a green plastic base bearing the team name and the NFL logo. While only one statue is identified by name (Jon Arnett of the L.A. Rams), the others will challenge longtime NFL denizens to peg them. The N.Y. Giants statue, for example, wears a No. 14 and bears a striking resemblance to Y.A. Tittle. The Dallas Cowboy wearing No. 17 is a dead ringer for Dandy Don Meredith. There are 2 pieces (each different) from the Giants and Browns, and the others include the Eagles, Cardinals, 49ers, Vikings and Steelers. Aside from some minor chipping on some pieces, the statues are in excellent-plus condition.
